Experience
I received a bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology from Boston University in 2013. I decided to study Anthropology because I am fascinated by people in general, but I am likewise attracted to tutoring because I am such a people person. I tutored many students of different ages and skills while I was a college student. My experience includes tutoring adults in English as a second language, and tutoring elementary and middle school children in basic school subjects such as math, science, and social studies. The areas I am qualified to tutor include Math up through Algebra, English, Social Studies, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, European History, Anthropology, and Sociology. My priority in tutoring is boosting students' confidence. I am convinced that any student can master any subject, so my goal is to help students believe in their own abilities. My basic strategy is to show how a complex concept is made up of smaller, simpler components. Once these components are clear, we can connect them to each other and assemble the bigger concept. My job is to teach students how to use the abilities they already have in order to reach their goals. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, and rock climbing.
